Issue/Introduction

 

• VLR is configured with stretched storage between sites
• 'vMotion eligible' option is selected when running planned migration in VLR wizard
• Running VLR failover throws "The connection to the remote server is down."

 

Environment

VMware Site Recovery 8.x

VMware Live Site Recovery 9.x 

Cause

Stretched storage is supported only on vCenter Single Sign-On Enhanced Linked Mode environments. Planned migration with Cross vCenter Server vMotion fails if the sites are not Enhanced Linked Mode. Stretched storage is required when using Cross vCenter Server vMotion during a planned migration.

Resolution

• Configure vCenters in Enhanced Linked Mode
