After patching your ESXi using Manually created (Custom) baselines, it is safe to detach the Baseline & delete it from the Update manager/Life Cycle Manager, if you no longer need them.
Detailed steps for Baseline removal
Detach Baseline from ESXi:
- In the vSphere Client, navigate to the vSphere Lifecycle Manager compliance view for an individual host or a container object.
- Navigate to a host, cluster, or a container object.
- Click the Updates tab.
- Select Hosts > Baselines.
- In the Attached Baselines pane, select one or more baselines or baseline groups and click Detach.
- The Detach dialog box opens.
- Select the object to detach the baseline or baseline group from and click Detach.
- The baseline is removed from the Attached Baselines list.
Delete Custom Baselines from Vcenter:
- Required privileges: VMware vSphere Lifecycle Manager > Manage Baselines
- Navigate to the vSphere Lifecycle Manager home view.
- In the vSphere Client, select Menu > Lifecycle Manager.
- Select a vCenter Server system from the Lifecycle Manager drop-down menu.
- The drop-down menu is available only when multiple vCenter Server systems are connected by a common vCenter Single Sign-On domain.
- By selecting a vCenter Server system, you specify which vSphere Lifecycle Manager instance you want to administer.
- On the Baselines tab, select a baseline or a baseline group from the list and click Delete.
- The Delete Baseline dialog box opens.
- Click Yes to confirm the deletion of the selected baseline or baseline group.
Important Note:
This process is applicable only for Custom Baselines. Do not remove Default Baselines in built from the update manager/Life cycle manager.
