Option to add a virtual CD ROM drive/device to a VMware Cloud Director virtual machine

Issue/Introduction

• From the VMware Cloud Director(VCD) portal,the virtual machine(VM) shows the device is not installed.
• Inserting media to the VM will fail as the device is not present. 
• No options seen from the VCD UI to add a device.

Environment

VMware Cloud Director 10.5.x

VMware Cloud Director 10.6.x

Resolution

The feature to add a CD or DVD device from VCD is not available.

The workaround is to add the CD device directly from vCenter. 

Additional Information

Any VMs created from VCD should automatically have this drive/device. 

Example scenarios where the device is not present is when

1. the device was directly removed from VC for the VM, See documentation for how to check the tasks on the VM. (or)
2. a VM was created from a template without the device.

Recommendation would be to check if the device was manually removed from VC or check the template settings from which the VM was created.
