Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

• Joining a vCenter Server Appliance to an Active Directory Domain via the GUI fails with the error:

Idm client exception: Error trying to join AD, error code [11]

 

Environment

VMware vCenter Server Appliance 8.x
VMware vCenter Server 8.x

Cause

- Required ports are blocked.

Resolution

- Open port 389 between the VCSA and Active Directory Domain Controllers.
