Issue/Introduction

Customer has below inquiries related to the correct PAMSC Endpoint version to be installed in their environment. Customer is using the Oracle Linux OS paired with RHEL kernels, i.e. Oracle Linux with Red Hat Compatible Kernel (RHCK). As the Compatibility Matrix doesn't describe about this we are unsure if this is supported.

For example, the OS is Oracle Linux 9.4 or 9.5, and the kernel is Red Hat kernel 5.14.0-427.13.1.el9_4_x86_64.

According to the Compatibility Matrix, Red Hat kernel 5.14.0-427.13.1.el9_4_x86_64 is supported from PAMSC Endpoint version 14.10.50.166 onward.
Could you confirm whether we can install PAMSC Endpoint version 14.10.50.166 on this system?

Environment

Oracle Linux 9.4 or 9.5
PAMSC Endpoint all versions

Resolution

Oracle Linux is generally a bug-to-bug distribution of Red Hat Enterprise Linux. This means it is almost a replicate of RHEL with some subtle differences. In terms of Linux kernel, Oracle Linux includes two kernels, RHCK (Red Hat Compatible Kernel) and UEK (Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel). UEK is Oracle's own Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel and is installed and set as the default boot Linux kernel.  RHCK is a truly bug-to-bug version of RHEL kernel.

If a Linux kernel of RHEL is certified for PAMSC Endpoint then the same version of Linux kernel from Oracle Linux (RHCK) is automatically supported as well.

So yes, you can install PAMSC Endpoint version 14.10.50.166 or later on Oracle Linux 9.4 or 9.5 with RHCK kernel 5.14.0-427.13.1.el9_4_x86_64.
