Issue/Introduction

When you are creating a VMware vSphere virtual machine, there is no option to select  Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10  guest operating system. This issue is observed on virtual machines with virtual hardware versions 19, 20 and 21.

Environment

VMware ESXi 7.0.3

VMware ESXi 8.0.x

Cause

Virtual hardware version 22 introduced new selections for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10.

Resolution

On VCF 9.0 and later, you can select Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10 as the Guest OS Option only in VMs where you select or upgrade the virtual hardware version to 22 or later.

On vSphere 7.0.3, you can only select Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 as the Guest OS (Refer to KB - Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 Virtual Machine with EFI firmware is incorrectly configured during the Virtual Machine creation)

In all other cases, select Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 as the Guest OS Option instead.
