SDDC Manager shows NSX 9.0 upgrade as failed even though the upgrade is completed successfully in NSX

Issue/Introduction

• SDDC Manager shows that an NSX upgrade to version 9.0 has failed
• Attempting to retry the upgrade in SDDC Manager does not help
• The NSX upgrade was completed successfully via the NSX Manager UI
• In the NSX Manager UI, the version is shown as 9.x.
• The steps in NSX-T upgrade via SDDC manager completes on the NSX-T, but shows failed in the SDDC manager show that the NSX version is 9.0 in the SDDC Manager database.

Environment

VCF 9.x
VMware NSX

Cause

When an upgrade of a VCF component is completed outside of the SDDC Manager UI, the upgrade status for that component will show as failed in the SDDC Manager UI as SDDC Manager is not aware of the upgrade task.

Resolution

Via a periodic synchronization between SDDC Manager and other VCF components, the status of the upgrade should eventually update to show that the upgrade has completed successfully. Subsequent upgrades of other VCF components should not be affected while the NSX upgrade is still showing as failed.
