Issue/Introduction

When attempting to run create a snapshot from Aria Suite Lifecycle Manager for the Aria Automation environment, the Request fails with the following error message.

LCMVRAVACONFIG90045 Unable to SSH to the VMware Aria Automation VA.  Please ensure the VA is up and running and we are able to SSH to it

Unable to SSH to the VMware Aria Automation VA node <fqdn> Please ensure the VA is up and running and we are able to SSH to it.

Environment

Aria Suite Lifecycle Manager 8.x
Aria Automation 8.x

Cause

This happens if the password associated with the Aria Automation Environment does not match what is on the nodes, or the password has expired.

Resolution

Update the passwords on the nodes:

  1. SSH to the nodes.
  2. Change the password when prompted.

Update the Locker>Password>[Associated Password]:

  1. Click the ellipsis at the right of the column for the password associated with the Aria Automation environment and select "Update Password."
  2. Update the password to the password that was just set via SSH.

Abandon the snapshot Request and manually finish the remaining steps in the request (starting the services, and Syncing the snapshot inventory):

Note: The existing request seems to still try to run with the original passwords even after updated and will continue to fail with LCMVRAVACONFIG90045.

  1. Try to use the "Power Off" request for the Aria Automation environment to power the nodes off.  If that fails, make sure Aria Automation services are stopped, and gracefully shut down the guest OS via vSphere.  See: Starting and stopping VMware Aria Automation for information on gracefully starting and stopping the services manually via command line.
  2. Use the "Power On" in the environment's ellipsis menu.  This will power Aria Automation on and start the services.
  3. Use the "Trigger Inventory Sync" option from the Environment's ellipsis menu at the top level where all of the environments are listed.  This will pull the snapshots into the inventory.
