This article has the steps to find the vml ID of a LUN.

Environment

VMware vSphere (All versions).

Resolution

  • If not known yet from an internal report, determine the naa/eui ID of the LUN by navigating to "Host > Configure > Storage devices" and selecting the target LUN for which the vml ID is needed.
  • Run the command below:

esxcli storage core device list -d naa.####/eui.#####

  • Find the line with "Other UIDs:", which will contain the vml ID of the LUN on that host, as in the example below:

esxcli storage core device list -d naa.60#########################
