Issue/Introduction

NetMaster 12.2 Automatic VSAMUPDATE gets messages like the following ones:

IAVP0203I VSAM update processing for nn elements
IAVP0201I Installing VSAM data member MOD@xxx for LUnnnnn
IAVP0104E N16C09 END OF FILE OR MEMBER
N16C91 ABEND S-913 OCCURRED

On NetMaster joblog there are the following messages:

ICH408I USER(USER1   ) GROUP(STARTASK) NAME(STARTED TASK USERID )
  SYS25106.T235002.RA000.jobname.R0100100 CL(DATASET ) VOL(vvvvvv)
  INSUFFICIENT ACCESS AUTHORITY
  ACCESS INTENT(UPDATE )  ACCESS ALLOWED(NONE   )
IEC150I 913-38,IFG0194E,jobname,step,SYSPRINT,nnnn,vvvvvv,
SYS25106.T235002.RA000.jobname.R0100100

Resolution

The SYSPRINT dataset name is the standard IBM one (see Data set name for temporary data set page on IBM z/OS documentation) and is not customizable on NetMaster side:

SYSyyjjj.Thhmmss.RA000.jobname.Rnnnnnnn

yy=year
jjj=julian date
hh=hours
mm=minutes
ss=second
region=region name

The only solution is allowing the USER1 userid to update those datasets.

Additional Information

A temporary workaround is running batch NMVIP jobs to update MODSDIS and PANLDIS.

Note that with 13.0 release the percentage of APARs/PTFs requiring automatic VSAMUPDATE (or batch NMVIP) drops to almost zero.
