Issue/Introduction

  • ESXi 8.0 U2 has more than 8 Mellanox NICs requiring the nmlx5 driver installed.
  • Only 8 of these NICs are available in the ESXi UI or at the CLI when running:
    • esxcli network nic list
  • This issue is confirmed when the message below appears in the /var/run/log/boot.gz file:
    • WARNING: <NMLX_ERR> No space in devices array!

Cause

The nmlx5 driver built into ESXi 8.0 U2 is limited to 8 uplinks per host.

Resolution

Please work with your hardware vendor to upgrade to ESXi 8.0 U3
