Issue/Introduction
- Customer was observing the NSX VDR MAC '02:50:56:56:44:52' learned on the physical switch port via Reverse ARP.
- Customer does not use overlay.
Environment
VMware NSX 3.x
VMware NSX 4.x
Cause
Reverse ARP being sent from the VDR port is a day zero behavior.
Reverse ARP is not required for VDR port as it will never move outside the ESXI hypervisor
Reverse ARP should not be sent out as this causes unnecessary MAC-learning on the upstream physical switch.
Resolution
This issue has been addressed in NSX 4.2.2.
