Issue/Introduction

  • When trying to use the Aria Operations plugin in vCenter, you see an error: "401 unauthorized error: unable to authorize VMware Aria Operations/vCenter Server API with provided credentials"
  • vCenter shows disconnected in Aria Operations UI

 

  

Environment

8.14.x, 8.16.x, 8.17.x, 8.18.x

Cause

  • If the vCenter Adapter Instance in VMware Aria Operations is not properly configured for the current vCenter 
  • If the vCenter Adapter Instances in VMware Aria Operations is not in the collecting state
  • The vCenter Server SSL was replaced using vCert - expired certificate replacement script

Resolution

  1. Login to Aria Operations UI.
  2. Go to the Administration tab.
  3. Select Integrations, then expand the vCenter adapter tab, and make sure the current vCenter is added
  4. If it is a warning. Edit the respective adapter instance and do the test validation
  5. Make sure the test connection is successful and save the configuration.
  6. Return to the Aria Operations plugin in vCenter UI, refresh the page, and the issue should be resolved.
