Issue/Introduction

  • You tried to delete a Tier-1 gateway but it failed with an error:
Error: The object path=[/infra/tier-1s/<Tier-1 GW ID>] cannot be deleted as either it has children or it is being referenced by other objects path=[/infra/port-mirroring-profiles/<port mirroring profile UUID>]
  • It can be also seen for IpFixDfwProfile, IpFixDfwCollectorProfile, IpFixL2Profile, IpFixL2CollectorProfile

Note: If the error message mentions QoS profiles, please refer KB 371691.

Environment

VMware NSX-T 3.x
VMware NSX 4.x

Cause

From NSX-T 3.0.1 to 3.1.0.x,  stale relationships between the profiles to all the Tier-1 gateways are created on creating port mirroring profiles and IPFIX profiles.
It persists even after upgrade to later versions and prevents deletion of the Tier-1 gateways.

Resolution

After NSX-T 3.1.0.x, such stale relationships are not created.
Such stale relationships are cleaned up by upgrading NSX to 4.2.2, 9.0, or later.

If you need to delete Tier-1 gateways before upgrading to the releases, delete the profiles mentioned in the error message.
