Error: "HTTP connect timeout." VCDA can't communicate with Remote and local site

Issue/Introduction

  • In the Peer Sites view in the Cloud Director Availability (VCDA) provider portal, under the Traffic section you can see an error HTTP connect timeout on both paired sites and local site.
  • The tunnel appliance on the local site has more than one Network interface.

Environment

VMware Cloud Director Availability 4.7.x

Cause

This error is caused due to a misconfiguration in the traffic control section in the tunnel making it unable to communicate with the other local components.

Resolution

To resolve this issue follow this steps:

  1. Login to the tunnel web interface
  2. In the configuration tab on the left pane on the Traffic settings field click edit
  3. Select the interface used for communication between the VCDA appliances
  4. Click apply
  5. Repair the local replicators
    Open the Replication manager portal (https://<managerIP>:8044/ui/admin)
    On the replicator services menu select one of the local replicators and click repair
    Provide the requested credentials, click apply and accept the replicator certificate if it is correct

  6. Reconnect the tunnel with the local cloud service
    Open the settings menu in the VCDA cloud service
    Click on edit in the tunnel address field
    Provide the tunnel root password and click apply
    Accept the certificate from the tunnel if it is correct

  7. repair the sites
    Go to the peers menu
    Select the site you want to repair with and click repair
    Click update
    Go to the site you want to repair and repeat the procedure
