Issue/Introduction

After uninstalling a previous version of DLP, and after restating services on the current version of DLP the services stop functioning due to logon failure.

Environment

15.8.x Windows Servers.

Cause

If the DLP user was created during the initial installation using the installation UI, then this user gets tied to that installation and is removed upon uninstallation.

Resolution

When installing DLP use a user created outside of the MSI such as a domain user or an existing local account.

If DLP was already installed and a service account was created during installation of the previous installation you can switch the user used to logon to the current version of DLP via the services snap-in. You must also ensure the new user full administrative permissions on all DLP Program files and Data files.
