Alert definition for the alert  "Guest OS experiencing disk queue"  on Aria Operations 8.x

Resolution

The alert "Guest OS experiencing disk queue" triggers when below conditions are met:

Red Condition

All these conditions must be met for 5 minutes:

  • If Guest|Peak Disk Queue within collection cycle > 10000
  • If CPU|Usage (MHz) > 250

Orange Condition:

All these conditions must be met for 5 minutes:

  • If Guest|Peak Disk Queue within collection cycle > 5000
  • If CPU|Usage (MHz) > 250 

Note: The Guest OS Disk Queue shows potential issue inside Windows or Linux machine. If this is high, its indicator that there is queueing happening inside guest OS and this must be checked at the Guest OS level.

There is no official guidance from either operating system. This alert is set at relatively high number, so adjust as you deem appropriate.
