CD-ROM metric is not available in VM for View setup.

Issue/Introduction

Trying to create a view to provide status on VMs with CD-ROM attached. However, this metric is not available to be allocated in the View configuration.

 

Environment

Aria Operations 8.x

Cause

In Aria Operations, vCenter Management pack comes with a Properties named "Disconnected CD-ROM". This Properties can be found in the VM Metric location as followed:

Metrics Tab > Properties > Configuration > Security > Disconnect CD-ROM

Since this metric is Deactivated in the Policy Definition, the above Properties will not be displayed in the VM Metric details.

Resolution

Edit the Active Policy Definition.  Activate the associated CD-ROM Properties.

• Navigate to Operations > Configuration > Policy Definition
• Click on the associated Active Policy that is assigned to the VMs, then click "EDIT POLICY"
• Next, click on "Metrics and Properties". Then select Object Type:   "vCenter > Virtual Machine"
• Next, expand Properties > Configuration > Security.
• Click on "Disconnect CD-ROM". Then toggle "Activated"
• Click "Save" to save the change.

The CD-ROM metric will now be displayed for VMs with this option configured.
