Issue/Introduction

Following Error will display when trying to Save the vCenter adapter upon assigning the Data Center to the adapter:

"Failed to create resource. Resource with same key already exists."

Environment

Aria Operations 8.x

Cause

Orphaned Physical Data Center object found from old deleted vCenter adapter.  This is caused by an existing vCenter adapter was deleted without deleting the associating child object.  Since the Data Center mapping to vCenter object already existed, the same Data Center cannot be assigned to the newly created but same vCenter adapter.

Resolution

Delete the orphaned object.  Then reassign the Physical Data Center to the vCenter adapter.

To delete the object:

  • Login to Aria Operations UI.
  • Navigate to Operations > Configurations > Inventory Management
  • On the Filter, enter the Name of the vCenter object, and enter "vCenter" for Adapter Type.
  • Locate the "Physical Data Center per Account" object type for the associated vCenter object, click on the "X" to delete this object.

Once the above object is deleted, go back to the vCenter adapter and reassign the Data Center to the adapter.

Additional Information

Note: A similar error is displayed if the same vCenter is added twice, once under VCF adapter and again under the vCenter adapter. See:

Resource with same key already exists" when attempting to re-create adapter instance in Aria Operations
