Issue/Introduction

In a VMware Cloud Foundation environment running Aria Operations for Logs, the vSphere integration is initially configured using the vSphere Administrator account.

When attempting to reconfigure the integration to use a dedicated service account, the authentication settings revert to the originally configured local vSphere Administrator account, preventing the new service account credentials from being retained.

Environment

Aria Operations for Logs 8.18.x

VCF 5.2.1

Cause

Whenever SDDC Manager rotates the local vSphere Administrator password, it automatically updates the credentials used by the Aria Operations for Logs to vSphere integration for the associated vSphere instance.

As a result, any previously configured service account credentials are overwritten and replaced with the local vSphere Administrator account credentials.

Resolution

The recommended course of action is to upgrade the environment to VCF 9.0.

In VCF 9.0, support for SDDC Log Insight integration has been deprecated. This design change removes the dependency on the legacy SDDC Log Insight integration architecture and addresses issues related to this functionality.
