Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

Database instances created with VCD UI not showing metrics on DSM UI.

However, MySQL and Postgres instances created with DSM UI can show monitoring metrics.

Environment

VMware DSM 2.2.1

VMware Cloud Director

Cause

This is a known issue with dataservices created in non-default namespaces because of skipped metrics collection. VCD users create databases through Data Solution Operator via Consumption Operator. Each VCD organization has a representative namespace in DSM.

No metrics appear in the VMware Data Services Manager UI for the dataservices created in non-default namespaces because of skipped metrics collection. VMware Data Services Manager does not perform metrics collection for dataservices located in non-default namespaces, and the metrics for those dataservices do not appear in the UI. Alerts related to Replication Lag, Data Disk Health, Max Connections, and metrics are not triggered for clusters in non-default namespaces.

Resolution

This issue would be fixed in VCF 9.0 and DSM 2.2.2.
