[VMC on AWS] Host conversions in SDDC Clusters

Issue/Introduction

To provide information regarding host conversions in VMC on AWS SDDCs.

Environment

VMC on AWS

Cause

• The original hosts deployed with the SDDC no longer meet the needs of the organization. 
• AWS will no longer be offering the host type currently being used in the SDDC.

Resolution

• To request a host conversion, please reach out to the account or sales representative for the organization. 
• The sales representative will then collect and verify the required information and will open a request on behalf of the organization. 
• The VMC Global Support team will be unable to open host conversion requests for an organization. 

Additional Information

• There is no downtime to workload virtual machines or the management appliances during the conversion. 
• Workload machines do not need to be migrated to another cluster or out of the SDDC prior to the conversion. 
• Hosts can be converted from i3 to i3en and i4i hosts.
• Hosts can be converted from i3en to i4i hosts. 
• Host conversions cannot be rolled back.
