Issue/Introduction

As a result of enhancements to the Linux security stack, Broadcom/Symantec is making changes to Linux kernel module (KMOD) support for the Linux agents of Symantec Data Center Security: Server Advanced (DCS:SA), Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP), and Symantec Endpoint Security (SES) products.

Customers are recommended to upgrade Symantec Linux agent to the latest versions by June 15, 2025 to continue to stay compliant and protected.

Resolution

Broadcom will continue to release virus definitions for all versions including prior to N-3, but will be limiting the release of kernel modules (KMODs) to newer versions of Symantec Linux Agents for DCS, SEP, and SES effective June 15, 2025. KMOD support on older versions of Symantec Linux Agent for DCS,SEP and SES will cease at that time.  Please upgrade your Symantec Linux Agent to the latest versions of DCS, SEP, and SES products, before June 15, 2025.

After June 15, 2025 Broadcom will support KMODs for four concurrent versions of DCS, SEP and SES.

  • DCS Linux Agents: 6.10.0, 6.9.3, 6.9.2, 6.9.1
    • DCS AIX and DCS Solaris Agents (Version 6.9.0.x)

  • SEP and SES: 14.3 RU9, 14.3 RU8, 14.3 RU6, 14.3 RU5

    Notes:
    • This is for Linux Agents Only
    • DCS AIX and DCS Solaris Agents are version 6.9.0 and are not impacted by this change
    • Existing published KMOD's will be retained in the public repository's
    • Updates will only be for the above listed versions. (Current and 3 prior versions, N-3)

Please be aware of how KMODs are distributed.

Based on your version of the Symantec Linux Agent, you should prepare to upgrade your agents to the latest version as soon as possible.
You may need to redefine the dates of existing upgrades to accommodate these changes.
