Issue/Introduction

  • Destination storage is a Storage Cluster with SDRS configured with anti-affinity rules so each vmdk has to be stored on a different datastore.
  • When trying to migrate a large VM with multiple vmdk with HCX the following error is observed during validation:
None of the datastores under cluster satisfy storage space requirements for this batch.
Requested storage is not available on datastore. Requested (includes storage policy overhead) ######## MB, HCX reserved space
Requested storage is not available on datastore. Requested (includes storage policy overhead) ######## MB, HCX reserved space
Requested storage is not available on datastore. Requested (includes storage policy overhead) ######## MB, HCX reserved space
...
  • Where ######## is the total amount of storage of all the VM vmdks combined and it lists it against each datastore in the storage cluster.

Cause

All placeholders for all the vmdks on a VM has to be created on a single datastore, independently of how many datastore exists in the storage cluster.

Resolution

Select a datastore with enough space to place all the VM vmdk files.

Additional Information

This feature is propose to be included in future releases but not supported at the moment.
