Local SPAN stops working after mirroring destination VM storage vMotion

Issue/Introduction

• Configure Local SPAN, do storage vMotion for mirroring destination VM, then it can't receive mirrored traffic on the mirroring destination VM.
  
  
• vDS Port Mirroring stops working after VM Storage vMotion
  
  
• On vmkernel.log you see the following:
  Mirror.cswitch: VSwitchMirrorSessionRemove:4858

Environment

VMware vSphere ESXi 8.x
VMware vCenter Server 8.x

Cause

When the VM switchport is changed for the same dvport during storage vMotion, it needs to be updated for the destination port entity in mirror session, currently it is not updated.

Resolution

• This is a know issue impacting vSphere and will be fixed in upcoming releases
  
  
• Workaround:
  
  Migrate (vMotion) the mirror destination VM to another host, then migrate it back to the original host.
