Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

• Datastores not listed under ESXi host in vSphere Client after upgrade from 7.0 U3 to 8.0 U2 (Build 23305546)
  
  
• Qlogic HBA fails to detect:
  
  
  
• iDRAC of the physical server shows the HBA healthy and good.
  
  
• lspci command on the affected host do show the adapters being detected:

• One of the working ESXi host exhibits HBA being online:

vSphere 8.x

Cause

vSphere Client fails to load the HBA modules as it fails to initialize.

Symptoms:

/var/log/boot.gz on ESXi host reports the Adapters vmhbaX and vmhbaY failing to initialize:
