Issue/Introduction

1. Planned migration takes a long time to complete and fails with operation timed out error  

2. VM fails on 'Shut down the priority 1 VMs' step and displays : Error - Operation timed out: 300 seconds

Environment

Site Recovery Manager 8.x

VMware Live Site Recovery 9.0

Cause

The impacted VM is a Database VM which is taking longer to shutdown.

Resolution

Change Recovery Settings in SRM Advanced Settings

1.In the vSphere Web Client, click Site Recovery>Open Site Recovery.
2.On the Site Recovery home tab, select a site pair and click View Details.
3.In the left pane click Configure> Advanced Settings> Replication.
4.Click Edit to change the settings.
5.Change recovery.powerOffTimeout from default 300 seconds to 900 seconds.


Repeat Steps 1 to 5 on the other site as well.
Restart the Site Recovery Manager Services on both sites for the changes to take effect.
