Issue/Introduction

Issue:

  Out of the box, attachment file types are restricted in Asset Portfolio Management (APM)12.9 and APM 14.1 to the following file extensions:
txt,csv,map,bmp,gif,jpg,jpeg,png,doc,docx,xls,xlsx,pdf

Environment:

Asset Portfolio Management (APM)12.9 and APM 14.1

Resolution:

This restriction can be removed to allow additional attachment file types to be uploaded by commenting out the following line in the web.config file on the web server.

<add key="AllowedFileTypes" value="txt|csv|map|bmp|gif|jpg|jpeg|png|doc|docx|xls|xlsx|pdf"/>.

Steps to remove the restriction on allowed attachment file types.

1. On the Asset Portfolio Management (APM) 12.9 or 14.x web server, browse to the following location
 Program Files (x86)\CA\ITAM\Web Server
2. Open the web.config file with a text editor such as notepad
3. Change  the following line from
    <add key="AllowedFileTypes" value="txt|csv|map|bmp|gif|jpg|jpeg|png|doc|docx|xls|xlsx|pdf"/>
     to
    <!--<add key="AllowedFileTypes" value="txt|csv|map|bmp|gif|jpg|jpeg|png|doc|docx|xls|xlsx|pdf"/-->
4. Save the change to the web.config file
5. Run an IISRESET on the web server

Additional information:
