Issue/Introduction

Some data source integrations rely on an import utility to periodically query a source data system. You can use the SQL Server Agent to create jobs that will execute these import utilities on a schedule of your choosing.

Environment

Version : 6.x

Resolution

This procedure refers to the Symantec Cloud SWG Import Utility (formerly the Symantec WSS Import Utility) but is representative of the process you would follow for any other integration that relies on a command line executable to query its data source.

You will first create the credential used by the proxy that will run the executable. Next, you will create the proxy under which the job will run. Finally, you will create and schedule the job itself.

Credential

  1. Open SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS)
  2. In Object Explorer, navigate to Security > Credentials
  3. Right-click the Credentials folder and select New Credential...
    The New Credential window opens
  4. In the Credential name field, type: Symantec CloudSWG Importer Credential
  5. In the Identity field, type the name of the ICA service account or another account with sufficient privileges on the file system to execute the Cloud SWG Import Utility
  6. Type and confirm the password for the account you typed in the Identity field
