Issue/Introduction

You may want to combine software product with different versions into a single item.

Environment

ITMS 8.x

Resolution

To combine two or more different Software Resources into a single item, it would be required to specify the versions you want to combine.

As example we have various Notepad++ versions installed or/and detected.

1. We would need first of all make sure that they are not located in Managed Products, and then either from Undefined or from Unmanaged Software option find first suitable software product:

2. Select Create new Product and on step 2, specify Version which would be visible in console for identification:

3. On next Step.

On next page - to See all available versions you can keep Version Field blank, or use Wildcard '%'. So it would display all known versions of this software:

4. Let's assume that we wanted to Combine all Notepad++ version 8.4.% and 8.5.% but not include 8.7.% - So our version Filter would look like: "8.4.%|8.5.%":

5. After finalizing the product creation - in Managed Products we can now see new Item created with our version information:

And we can see that version information we specified in step 2 is displayed - and Software Product inventory contain the correct versions.

6. We can later on further modify the existing Software Product, and add new versions, in this case we would want to add known but not managed 8.7.x - in that case we would modify the Version field in General Properties to something like "8.4 and Higher" and Save, then in Inventory we specify "8.4|8.5|8.6|8.7":

And on Save option it would notify that new Software resource will be added into this Product.
