Issue/Introduction

Question:

On the SS Analyzer Buffer Pool Activity Display the GETPAGE Value for a BP(BufferPool) is greater than the sums of GETPAGES in the SS Analyzer Database Activity Display for the same BP(Buffer Pool). Why is that?

Answer:

If you type help in SS Analyzer Buffer Pool Activity Display and then select option 1 for Field Descriptions then 9 for GETPAGE you'll read the following:

Field: GETPAGE

Description: The number of getpage requests issued. This field includes successful and unsuccessful unconditional requests and successful conditional requests.

Whereas if you do the same thing in for GETPAGE SS Analyzer Database Activity Display you'll read the following:

Field: GETPAGE

Description: The number or percentage of getpage requests issued.

As you can drr the difference in the definition of the same field in these two panels. The first one will be bigger most of the time than the second. There are times when the two matches but most of the time they are different.
