Some Software updates may continue updating the system components and cause system corruption if a restart is performed right after installation completion.
You want to know if we have a way to detect such situations and provide an option to delay restarts after the patching cycle to work around them.
Is there a way to provide the ability to delay restart after updates installation?
ITMS 8.7.3
Starting with our ITMS 8.7.3 Release (see Release Notes), there is a new core setting option called "PatchDelayBeforeRestart" that should handle this need. The command, when enabled, has a default value of "60" seconds to delay restart following the installation of updates.
You can change it to "0" to disable the newly introduced delay or change to value more suitable for their environment.
The agent logs should display this message referencing to the setting been active:
Restart is delaying for 60 seconds
as well any custom value been used:
