Deployment will not start

Issue/Introduction

• VIO Controller pods in Init status
• Failing pod events show similar to this:
  Warning  FailedAttachVolume  108s (x5 over 14m)  attachdetach-controller         AttachVolume.Attach failed for volume "pvc-########-####-####-####-############" : Failed to add disk scsi0:1.
• In vCenter we see the error in the controller's virtual machine:

    Failed to lock the file
    Cannot open the disk '/vmfs/volumes/vsan:################################/########-####-####-####-############/kubernetes-dynamic-pvc-########-####-####-####-############.vmdk' or one of the snapshot disks it depends on.
    Failed to power on scsi0:1.

Cause

Deployment was not shutdown/did not shutdown correctly and the Persistent volume disks did not detach from the existing controller(s).

Please contact Broadcom support to assist with resolving.
