VMware Cloud Director Adapter Configuration Fails on Connection Validation in Aria Operations

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

• VCD Adapter may appear in a Warning state (State: Collecting Object: Down).
• When you run the Validate Connection, you may be prompted to accept a certificate. But even after accepting it, the process may still fail with the following error

Login Failed : Failed to Login : javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException: SSLHandshakeException invoking https://xxxxxxxxxx.xxxxx.xx/api/admin/: Remote host terminated the handshake

                                                                                          

Environment

VMware Aria Operations 8.18.x

Cause

The issue occurs when the user has enabled the Web Application Firewall (WAF) on the VCD's Load Balancer, which blocks application layer traffic.

Resolution

To Resolve the issue, Disable the Web Application Firewall (WAF) configured on the VMware Cloud Director Load Balancer. After disabling the WAF, re-run the "Validate Connection" process. The validation should complete successfully.
