Process for enabling secure communication between Ghost Solution Suite and managed computers with the DAgent installed
Ghost Solution Suite 3.3.x
For the production Agent, from console navigate to: Tools > Options > 'Agent Settings' tab
Enable 'Force new agents to take these default settings' and click on the 'Change Default Settings' button
From the 'Security' tab
Select to Allow encryption form this managed client computer to the Ghost Solution Suite Server. This allows encrypted data transmission between the Ghost Solution Suite server and the Ghost Solution Suite DAgent on the client computer. If selected, the client computer can connect ( but is not required to connect ) using encryption.
To enable encryption protocols, Open the Ghost Solution Suite Configuration Utility, click Options and select the Transport tab. Select the Allow encrypted sessions check box to let the Ghost Solution Suite Server transmit using encryption protocols.
Require encrypted session with any server: Select to require encryption between the managed client computer and the Ghost Solution Suite Server. if this option is selected and the option to allow encryption in the Deployment Configuration tools is not selected, the Ghost Solution Suite Server does not communicate with the DAgent client on the managed client computer.
Click 'OK'
Note: Selecting encryption options slows down the communication path between the agent and the Ghost Solution Suite Server
Open Ghost Solution Suite Configuration Utility: Start > Altiris > -OR- Control Panel (small Icons ) > Altiris Deployment Server (32-bit) | Options > 'Transport'
Allow encrypted Sessions: Allows encrypted session between the Ghost Solution Suite Agent and the Ghost Solution Suite Server. If the Ghost Solution DAgent data encryption is turned on, you must also turn on the Ghost Solution Suite Server option to pass encrypted data between the client computer and the server.
Click 'OK'
