Issue/Introduction

On our Management UI, we have a Router DSA that is routing requests to a number of Data DSAs that are grouped into diffferent sets of load-share groups. Do we need to name each of these groups using different names? The "Load Share Group" is on the "Ext Knowledge" tab of a DSA configuration screen.

Environment

Release: 14.1
Component: CA Directory

Resolution

The "Load Share Group" is used to name a group of load share partners when there is a need to distinguish groups that share the same DSA prefix but may have different precedences.

For example group1 could be in data center 1 while group2 in data center2. In this scenario, ldap clients that connect to DSAs in the data center 1 tends to have the preference to use use DSAs in the data center 1 so that the traffic does not need to go through the network link between data center 1 and data center 2 as the link is presumable slower than just the connection to servers in the data center 1. With the use case, DSAs in the data center 1 can use the "set precedence Command" to set their precedence-list so that group1 comes betfore group2:

set precedence Command

For Management UI, the command is set using the Precedence field on the "Settings" tab.

This also means if there is no need to name the group of load-share group, there is no need to use the set-precedence command and the field on the Management UI can simply be left blank.
