Issue/Introduction

When checking the Virtual machine metrics, you can locate vCenter virtual machine tags but cannot see vCenter virtual machine attributes

Environment

Aria Operations 8.x

Resolution

Virtual machine custom attributes are not collected in the vCenter adapter presently.

Please contact your VMware by Broadcom account manager to add your vote to the feature request number VROPS-I-1666.

The custom attribute is collected as a custom tag, not attribute.

Workaround:

  • Aria Operations currently collects the vCenter custom attributes as a 'Custom Tag'
  1. Create a new View, in this example we use a 'List View'.
  2. Select Virtual Machine as the 'Selected Subject'.
  3. Click on the 'Select Object' icon, see the red arrow below.
  4. In the pop-up filter and search for a virtual machine that has 'Custom Attributes' in vCenter
  5. Click on the virtual machine and SELECT

   6. Finally search for tag and the 'Custom Tag', vCenter Custom Attributes, is available for selection.
