Computers with different names getting merged during AD import

Issue/Introduction

AD import (Active Directory Import) causes unexpected merges of computers with different names/FQDN.

It was noticed in an environment with a SQL server 2019 RTM.

Environment

ITMS 8.7.2

SQL server 2019 RTM

Cause

Appears to be some kind of defect on SQL server side.

 

Resolution

While this issue hasn't been noticed on every SQL Server 2019 RTM implementation, it was found that upgrading to latest CU1332 (or newest one) for SQL Server 2019 did resolve the issue.

Our general recommendation is to be up-to-date with SQL Server updates.
