Required implied right warning when cloning roles in VMware Cloud Director

Issue/Introduction

• When cloning a role in VMware Cloud Director 10.6.x, a warning similar to the following is presented:
  
  Required implied right Catalog: View ACL has not been selected for selected right Catalog: Sharing
  
  Please note: The rights included in the example above are an example and the actual error encountered may reference other rights.
  
  
• Saving the cloned role appears to be missing one or more rights from the original role.

Environment

VMware Cloud Director 10.6.x

Cause

Some permissions in VMware Cloud Director require other permissions in order to work correctly. In 10.6.x, if these implied permissions are not selected, it can create unexpected behavior for the user, and, if these requirements are not corrected, permissions will be excluded in the cloned role.

Resolution

If the source role cannot be corrected, this behavior can be addressed with one of the two following options:

Option 1:

1. 1. Save the new cloned role.
   2. Edit the resulting role.
   3. Select the implied permission(s) and any permissions that were removed during the cloning process.

Option 2:

1. 1. During the cloning process, enable the option Modify Selected Rights.
   2. Locate the currently selected permission. For example, in the message Required implied right Catalog: View ACL has not been selected for selected right Catalog: Sharing, navigate to the catalog sharing right.
   3. Deselect the right.
   4. Navigate to the implied right. In the example above, the Catalog: View ACL right would be the implied permission.
   5. Select the right.
   6. Return to the original permission that was deselected.
   7. Reselect the right.
   8. Repeat the process for all missing implied rights.
