Issue/Introduction

Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7.9 reached the end of its maintenance support phase on June 30, 2024, but Extended Life Cycle Support (ELS) is available until June 30, 2028, offering continued security and bug fixes.

RHEL 7.9/CentOS 7.9 

Cause

Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7.9 reached the end of its maintenance support phase on June 30, 2024. 

Resolution

 

• End of Maintenance Support:

  RHEL 7 reached the end of its maintenance support phase on June 30, 2024, meaning that bug fixes, security updates, and hardware enablement will no longer be provided. 

   
• Extended Life Cycle Support (ELS):

  Red Hat offers Extended Life Cycle Support (ELS) for RHEL 7, which provides continued maintenance support, including critical security and bug fixes, for an additional four years, until June 30, 2028. 

   

• RHEL 7.9:

  RHEL 7.9 is the last minor release in the RHEL 7 series and will receive updates through the end of the RHEL 7 lifecycle. 

   

• Upgrade Recommendation:

  Red Hat recommends upgrading to supported versions of RHEL 8 or 9 for new features, security enhancements, and ongoing support. 

   

• CentOS Linux 7:

  CentOS Linux 7 also reached End of Life (EOL) on June 30, 2024.
