Error: "Permission Denied Failed saving the vcloud DB user to /opt/vmware/vcloud-director/data/transfer/backups/<Backup Name>" causing database backup to fail

Issue/Introduction

 

• Backup of the Cloud Director Appliance from the VAMI and the CLI both are failing.
• When the backup is attempted from the VMware Cloud Director (VCD) UI and Command Line Interface (CLI) the task fails with the permission denied error.
  "Permission Denied Failed saving the vcloud DB user to /opt/vmware/vcloud-director/data/transfer/backups/<Backup Name>" 

Environment

VMware Cloud Director 10.5

Cause

This issue can occur if the postgres user has issues accessing the NFS transfer directory when creating the database backup.

 

Resolution

Recommend updating to10.6 or later releases
