Issue/Introduction

During the NSX Manager pre-check upgrade process, the operation failed due to a certificate parsing error.

The certificate with id <uuid> failed to parse with error: java.io.IOException: Header and footer do not match:

-----BEGIN CERTIFICATE----- -----END CERTIFICATE------------------------------------------------------------.

Please delete (if unused) or replace this certificate prior to upgrading.

Environment

VMware NSX

VMware NSX-T Data Center

Cause

This issue occurred due to a mismatch in the header and footer format of the reported certificate. The number of dash characters must be identical in both sections.

-----BEGIN CERTIFICATE-----
...
...
...
Encoded string for encryption of data
...
...
...
-----END CERTIFICATE-----

Resolution

Resolving this issue requires validating the certificate and potentially regenerating it. Collect the API output below and open a new case with Broadcom Support for assistance, referencing this article.
