Log Filtering that includes a backslash \ in the match text is not working

Issue/Introduction

Log Filtering has been configured to filter logs that contain a specific Microsoft Windows file path (C:\Program Files\application) but the filter is not working.

Environment

VMware Aria Operations for Logs 8.x

Cause

The backslash \ character is used as an escape character in the Log Management filters.

Resolution

Use a double backslash \\ to escape the special meaning of the backslash character.

Example: C:\\Program Files\\application

Additional Information

Using the double backslash will result in incorrect results when using the Run in Explore Logs page button. The Log Management filters are different than the filters used in the Explore Logs page resulting in an incorrect set of results.
