Long binaryCreds is causing CA Access Gateway to crash

Issue/Introduction

Submitting an request to CA Access Gateway for Authentication which contains a binaryCreds data field above 4153 chars causes it to crash

# A fatal error has been detected by the Java Runtime Environment:

#  SIGBUS (0x7) at pc=0x00007fe09052641a, pid=4141119, tid=0x00007fe0839f9700

However there is no specification for binaryCreds of having a certain maximum size

 

 

Cause

This is due to a hardcoded variable value present in all SiteMinder versions up to at least 12.8.8 CR01

Resolution

Defect DE626584 was created and a fix exists for CA SiteMinder 12.8.8 CR01 which overcomes this limitation and increases the limit up to 31K

The fix will also be included in CA SiteMinder 12.9 SP1, so you may also upgrade to that version when available to benefit from this fix
