Replication reconfiguration failed.

Issue/Introduction

Replication for the vm was removed.

Status of the vm displayed using command  "vim-cmd hbrsvc/vmreplica.getState vmid" contain error:

 'Can't reconfigure when replication is not initially configured.' 

 

 

 

Environment

vSphere Replication 8.8

ESXi 7.0 U3

Cause

1. VM was converted from physical.

2. Corrupted vm files.

Resolution

1. Reboot vm and reboot vCenter appliance.

2. Remove  vm from VC inventory and re add it.

If above steps did not resolve the issue.

3. Create new vm with with the same settings/resources like problematic vm.

4. Add disks from vm in question to new vm

5. Power on new vm.

6. Crete replication for the vm.

6. If above steps resolved replication issue remove disks from original vm and delete it.
