Issue/Introduction

 

When attempting to install CA Workload Automation AE (AutoSys) on a Windows 2008 (or higher) host with User Account Control (UAC) enabled, the following error occurs:

Feature transfer error: Error - 1625 This installation is forbidden by system policy. Contact your system administrator.

Cause

 

This error can occur because Windows Group Policy or User Account Control (UAC) is blocking administrator access to the install.

Note: The CA Workload Automation AE (AutoSys) install must be run via a user with Windows Administrator group privileges.

Environment

CA Workload Automation AE 11.3.x on Windows 2008 or higher.

Resolution

 

Check permissions for the user running the install or try elevating the setup by right clicking the setup.exe from the install media, then selecting Run as Administrator.

In some cases it may be necessary to (at least temporarily) disable User Account Control (UAC).

 

Disable UAC

  1. Click Start. Type MSCONFIG in the Start Search bar and press Enter.

    Note: If UAC window prompts for permission to continue, please click Continue.

  2. Click Tools.

  3. Highlight Change UAC setting, click Launch.

  4. Select Never notify.

  5. Restart the system (if prompted)
