Issue/Introduction

  • The task of importing/restoring DVS configuration on the vCenter Server fails with Operation failed error.
  • Checking further on the failed task, following was reported:
    • "A specified parameter was not correct: spec.uplinkTeamingPolicy.uplinkPortOrder.activeUplinkPort The activeUplinkPortName value : dvUplink1 is not valid in the spec.uplinkTeamingPolicy.uplinkPortOrder.activeUplinkPort"

VMware vCenter Server 7.0

Cause

This issue occurs when there are incorrect values in the uplink teaming policy configuration. 

Resolution

The below steps can be followed to ensure correct naming for the distributed switch uplinks.

  • In the vSphere Client Home page, click Networking and select the distributed switch.
  • On the Configure tab, expand Settings and select Properties.
  • Click Edit.
  • Click General to edit the vSphere Distributed Switch settings.
    • Validate the uplinks configuration, change/rename Uplink 1 to dvUplink1 and Uplink 2 to dvUplink2
