Issue/Introduction

Symptoms :

• Troubleshoot vSAN OSA disk failure for vSAN compression-only disk groups. 

Resolution

•  A failure of a capacity device in a disk group for a cluster using "Compression only" will only impact that discrete storage device, whereas the same failure using DD&C would impact the entire disk group.
  
• vSAN Capacity disk failure (Compression-Only ON): The Disk is marked as failed, and all components present on it will rebuild on another disk, and the vSAN Disk group will still be online. 
  
  
• Troubleshooting vSAN compression only disk failure will have the same steps performed for Hybrid vSAN disk group failure. Please follow the troubleshooting steps mentioned in KB # 326859 : How to troubleshoot vSAN OSA disk issues and KB # 2150567 : How to manually manage and configure a vSAN disk group using esxcli commands to address the vSAN disk failure issue on your vSAN Cluster.
