Issue/Introduction

During an approval process in both Identity Manager (IM) and Identity Portal (IP), you experience issues when multiple approvers are involved.

• Identity Manager (IM):
  When connected with two approvers on separate web browsers, both approvers can see the task that needs approval simultaneously.

  • The first approver successfully approves or rejects the task, and the workflow continues as expected.

  • When the second approver attempts to approve or reject, they encounter the following message:
    
    The operation could not be performed because the workitem has already been completed by another user.
    
    
    
    This error clearly indicates that another user has already performed the approval action, preventing the second approver from completing their action.
    
    

• Identity Portal (IP):
  Similar to IM, when connected to the IP with two approvers on separate browsers, both approvers can view the task that needs approval.

  • The first approver approves or rejects the task successfully, and the workflow continues as expected.

  • When the second approver tries to approve or reject the task, they encounter a different error message:
    
    Calling Webservice run Approval Action failed.
    
    
    
    This message does not provide clear context as to why the action cannot be completed, making it difficult to understand the underlying issue.

Resolution

A hotfix was released that updated the message in the common error dialog to display a more meaningful description as part of issue DE630007.

• To further enhance the clarity of the message and improve understanding of the issue, additional improvements were made.
• A subsequent hotfix introduced new localization keys to support several language options.
