Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

Windows 10/11 Virtual Machine vCPU count at Edit setting of VM is different from CPU Core count at Windows Task performance option, in  Windows 10/11 Operation System.

Windows 10/11 Virtual Machine is enabled CPU HotAdd button.

Environment

VMware ESXi 8.0.x

Cause

Possible causes include:

  1. Windows 10/11 does not support CPU Hot-Add.
  2. Windows License limits the vCPU count that which Windows 10/11 Operation System uses.

Resolution

1. Disabled CPU Host-Add.
